We do not believe in a god who cannot dance

In January 2025 Gombo and Maria Høeberg were selected with their project “We do not believe in a god who cannot dance” for the 2025 edition of the Biennale College Cinema Immersive for the pre-production, and later the production workshop. Armando, an exiled Angolan musician, returns home to bury his father, a pastor torn between faith and tradition. During the funeral, he seeks to uncover the secret within his memoirs and embarks on a journey revealing the dark side of the Church’s role in Africa.

The project is a collaboration between writer and director Gombo, Khora represented by producer Maria Høeberg, and anthropology and co-writer Armando Coxe. The project is currently looking to secure production funding to be able to premiere at La Biennale in the Immersive College section in 2026.
