Lifestories | Syncsense

Client: Syncsense

Target Medium: Pico

Challenge:
People living with dementia can benefit greatly from familiar and meaningful experiences that trigger recognition and reminiscence. Care homes often seek ways to create these moments, strengthen residents’ sense of identity, and foster connection with loved ones and staff.

Task:
Creating immersive VR “life stories” experiences for a research project in two Copenhagen care homes — including a specialised dementia care facility — to explore how they can evoke positive memories, improve well-being, and encourage social interaction.

Solution:
Together with Syncsense, Khora produced calming 360° VR videos featuring nature parks, farm life, and museums. These familiar environments allowed residents to virtually “visit” meaningful places, sparking conversation, awakening personal memories, and creating shared moments between residents, families, and caregivers. Feedback from Langgadehuset care home’s Family Day showed strong recognition and engagement from residents, and enthusiasm from families about VR as a tool for connection.
